Use The Size Of Your Space Determine The Pool Tables Size When You Buy

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

When purchasing a pool table be sure that you choose a table that is the right proportion to the room you will be putting the table into. Rooms may appear to be large enough, but when the table arrives, it may be found that the room is much too small for the table. This guide is designed to assist you in choosing the correct sized pool tables for your home.

Many times people make the mistake of choosing a table by its outside dimensions. The size of the actual playing surface is more important in matching the table to the room size. By choosing a table that allows for the correct length of pool cues, you will automatically have plenty of room for walking around the new table.

The correct size table is not only determined by table size but also by length of pool cue that is chosen. Choosing 48 inch cues will allow a room to be 1′8″ smaller in each direction than if you choose the cues that are 58 inches in length. If you want to use longer pool cues, you may have to choose a smaller table to fit into the room.

A seven foot table has a playing are of 38 inches by 76 inches. This means that for 48 inch pool cues, you need a room size of no smaller than 11′3″ by 14′6″. For the larger pool cues you will need a room that is 12′11″ by 16′2″.

For a standard eight foot table with a playing area of 46 inches by 88 inches, the room should be between 11′8″ by 15′4″ and 13′6″ by 17′4″. The smaller dimensions are for 48 inch cues and the larger ones are for the 58 inch cues.

The larger nine foot pool table needs to be situated in a room that is somewhere between 12′2″ by 16′4″ and 13′10″ by 18′.

Once the table size has been determined, you will want to be sure that you choose the largest table that will comfortably fit into the room. This will make your table proportionate to the room and more challenging for you to play.

While you will find many other important considerations in choosing a pool table, choosing the correct size is important in getting a table that can easily be played in the size room that you have. This choice may rule out many of the other choices you have in the table that you choose for your room.
